Following requests and meetings in more than 30 schools, employers agreed that disputes brought by the union or workers to the Fair Work Commission could be resolved in a binding (arbitrary) manner by the Commission. This allows the union to assert rights in MEAs or to be included in national employment standards without having to go through legalistic proceedings in court. The union includes these increases and the reimbursement of wages is not paid until the MEAs are (at the earliest) approved by vote in each school. These votes are made by the schools. In July, the union received an enhanced offer for multi-company agreements (MEAs) from the Catholic Commission for Employment Relations (CCER) for teachers and support staff in Model B and Model C Catholic Community Schools. Member assemblies followed in more than 30 schools. In addition, after January 1, 2020, higher education services in schools and the teaching service will be recognized for the first time in early childhood services. After a long campaign, union negotiations on the NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020 (EA) are finally over. Employees from all dioceses were invited to vote on the new EA between Monday, November 9 and Friday, November 13. The IEUE insists that the « yes » vote be voted on. After a long campaign, the union negotiations on the NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020 (the largest EA) are finally over. As a result of these negotiations, an agreement was also reached on the NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Principals Enterprise Agreement 2020 (Major EAs). The IEU has received confirmation from the Catholic Commission for Industrial Relations (CCER) that the 11 dioceses are prepared to pay the 2.5% increase in salaries of headteachers, teachers and support staff of NSW catholic schools and the ACT since January 1, 2020. The NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020 (EA) is planning wage increases of 2.5% from January 2020 and a further pay increase of 2.28% from January 2021 for support employees (called general employees in the EA). This corresponds to the salary increases of NSW teachers. THE MEAs are in effect for 2020 and 2021 until December 31, 2021. The salary increases for teachers and support staff will be as follows: teachers and support staff in NSW and ACT Catholic schools will vote in early November on their new NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Enterprise Agreement 2020 (eA), most likely from Monday, November 9 to Friday, November 13.
