Eu India Strategic Partnership Agreement

09 Avr Eu India Strategic Partnership Agreement

The EU`s strategic partnerships (SPs) are constantly evolving and responding to current problems. An EU-India summit was held on 15 July 2020 to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership BETWEEN the EU and India, based on reciprocal concerns about COVID-19, climate change and digitisation. The EU has ten bilateral strategic partners in North and South America, Africa and Asia: [2] The 2020 2016 action programme is available here: www.europarl.europa.eu/cmsdata/122862/20160330-agenda-action-eu-india.pdf The European Union also takes into account a nation`s influence on global issues when it comes to specific partnerships. That is why the members of the G8 and Outreach 5 have special partnership agreements with the EU. For a long time, the PARTNERSHIP between the EU and India has been slow and fragmented and has struggled to maintain momentum. The relationship has still focused too much on set-piece summits instead of fostering daily dynamic connections. Meetings, including summits, would be ritually cancelled and the lack of high-level bilateral visits revealed a lack of political will. The unfair emphasis has been placed on foreign policy cooperation, but on many points, the divisions have far exceeded commonalities, leading to disappointments and a general deception of the partnership`s potential. Since the nature of bilateral alliances varies from country to country, it is not possible to give a precise definition. On the contrary, different strategic partnership projects can be studied to determine the nature of the agreement with a particular third-party nation. While climate and energy initiatives and sustainable urban cooperation will undoubtedly strengthen EU-India relations, much more needs to be done.

The EU and India must now complement the pillars of energy and city cooperation with a third symbiotic pillar for innovation cooperation. Social and environmentally friendly innovations will be essential to all sustainable and sustainable energy and successful urban transformation. Although both the EU and India have strong individual innovation communities, the creation of a special platform that encourages innovation partnerships can help strengthen ongoing cooperation in the areas of energy and urbanization. « Out of the Box » thinking can also help bypass negotiations on stalled free trade agreements and free up mutually beneficial opportunities. While the free trade agreement may not be concluded in the next five years, the two partners may instead try to liberalize trade by sector. Thanks to these two platforms, EU companies are now in a fair market against players such as China, Japan, Canada, Australia and the United States, which have aggressively competed for their presence in the infrastructure and energy markets. Opening up these markets would not only promote economic growth and job creation in the EU, but would also strengthen the EU`s image as a strategic player in India. India`s shift from aid recipient to donor country in the early 2010s ended EU development aid to India – the long-term fundamental pillar of relations. Moreover, a free trade agreement (FTA) – the most imaginative moment of the partnership at the time – would prove difficult for many reasons.
